Welcome

Mike Essoudry’s Mash Potato Mashers are Ottawa’s craziest mobile dance riot. We are a 9-piece assortment of double-down surround-sound, fusing together shades of the Balkans, Brazil, New Orleans, and just a dash of old-time hurtin’ country.

In a world dominated by electronic amplification and synthesized effects, we throw it all back to the raw purity of acoustic lungs and feet and hands. We are a drinking, dancing horn-powered hurricane that will surrender your sensitivities and overwhelm your better judgement. We may end up on the stage or in the street, we may end up on the bar or in your kitchen, but we will certainly end up leaving your ears and legs aching for more.

In the past year, we’ve taken our party all over Ontario. We’ve danced in streets and fields from Burlington to Montreal. We’ve rocked onstage with Broken Social Scene in Sudbury. We’ve incited pre-dawn street dance riots at 2:30AM in Guelph. We’ve escorted brides and grooms down the aisle. And that was just last summer alone!

Now we’re bringing our joyful horn cacophony to your playground. Be warned…
